A Letter to Naley...

I was recently inspired by the open letters on Hello Giggles, and I knew that I had to write one of my own. Enjoy my fellow OTH friends:

Dear Naley,

I have to be quite blunt with the two of you. I have no idea why I have such a soft spot for you. I mean, first of all, your name: Naley?! What does that even mean? Does it mean your feeling a little like a nail? Are you a bent piece of metal that is almost a nail? I guess it could have been worse... You could have been called Ha-Te. That would just be cruel. Anyway, naming aside... there are three reasons why I should shut off my TV when you come on my screen:

1.  You're the stereotypical couple: the hotshot jerk-face jock falls in love with the nice, smart, quirky girl? John Hughes called. He wants his couple back.

2. You got married in HIGH SCHOOL! I just cannot get past this... 16! YOU WERE 16! What the hell were you thinking?! There are movements trying to help stop girls from being married before 18. Why was this necessary?! And don't even get me started on the vow renewing at 17 and the kid by 18!

3. You're the cheesiest couple I have ever seen in my life. You have a catch phrase: "Always and Forever". Really?! You have symbols - an ugly bracelet (sorry, but come on), a tattoo (Haley, what were you thinking?), and purple flowers (okay, those are pretty). But honestly, you're nauseating.

But the truth is that I don't hate you. In fact all of the things I listed are reasons why I think you are the perfect couple. Yes, you are the typical teenage show couple, but it always works! It's that pairing that makes my heart race. It makes me think that one day a hot jock will fall for my quirky brain. And sure, you got married in high school, but you were so effing in love that you couldn't see a future without each other. THAT IS SO FUCKING BEAUTIFUL. I'm just getting teary eyed thinking about it. And "always and forever" is the sweetest thing in the world. It perfectly describes your devotion to each other, and it's the title of an awesome Luther Vandross song:

Everyday love me your own special way
Melt all my heart away with a smile
Take time to tell me you really care
And we'll share tomorrow together
Ooh baby, I'll always love you foreve
r

Awwww! You're always and forever..
Sure, you're no Sam and Diane or Ross and Rachel. Your love story wasn't a will they/won't they or really much of a will they. You found each other, fell in love, and fought to be together. And you are happy together. You support each other. You understand each other. You both make mistakes, but you always forgive each other. You COMMUNICATE. Above all, after 10 years, (I can't be sure of the timing you've been together with the OTH time jumps) you are still in love with each other. You're a true TV fairy tale and even though your story is a little weird and would make most people cringe, it's basically what we all want.

So, in conclusion, I hate that I love you...

Best Regards,
Stephanie
